A relatively low altitude trek, the Helambu
circuit is one of the most convenient of short trek close
to Kathmandu. It can be completed in only seven days or
eight days and is well supplied with teahouse. The
inhabitants in Helambu re-predominantly Tamang with Sherpa
people inhabiting the higher village particularly Melamchi
Gaon, Tarkeghayang and Sharmathang
While most of the trek is at altitude below
3000 meters, high point at Tharepati la pass is 3500m.
There are many variations possible for trekking in
Melamchi but the circuit starting at Sudarijal and ending
at Melamchi pul.
