General Information
Open all the year around, Island Jungle Resort is
situated in the famous Bandarjhola Island inside the
western section of the Royal Chitwan National Park.
The area is composed of riverine forests with the
vegetation consisting principally of there species of
trees.
Besides being located in an isolated area, the above biotic factors
too contribute into making Island Jungle Resorts a
prime habitat for the largest variety of wildlife of
Chitwan that thrive in abundance. Ample opportunities
await guest to watch the wildlife from elephant back,
on a Jungle walk boating down the river, and on a
trek
A grade
Bandarjhola is one of prime habitat of the Royal Bengal Tiger. Besides
that, nearby long river banks of the Narayani is a
spot where two species of Crocodiles, the Gharial and
Marsh Mugger can be sighted on sunny days round the
year. Animals frequently seen include rhinoceros,
sloth bear, spotted deer hog
deer, barking deer sambar deer and wild boat,
while the tiger and the leopard being more
elusive in nature are seen less often, but the chances
remain healthy.
Much of the parks avifauna have also preferred to settle around the
vicinity of the Narayani River flowing besides
Bahdarjhola. On a boat ride, one gets of the larger
and attractive species such as the Bar Headed Geese,
Mallard, Pintail, Pochard, Darter and the Ruddy Shell
Duck.
Besides these, many among the 450
species or so of birds that habit Chitwan can be
observed furtively darting around the thickets of
Bandarjhola.
